Menorca

Menorca is the second largest island of the Balearics and tends to be “unknown”. As such Menorca is ideal for smaller Events, for those inclined to go unnoticed. Mallorca is peaceful and discreet with an exclusive nature environment making the island the perfect destination for smaller groups.

Menorca’s history of occupation by the Romans and British have produced variations in architecture and cultural to those of Mallorca. However, Menorca like Mallorca, offers idyllic villages and beautiful coastal regions. While Menorca’s scale is smaller than Mallorca’s this is often a case of “less” means more AND certainly does not affect the quality of services Menorca can offer the MICE market.

The Islanders has kept a British tradition in their love of Gin which they drink during their festivities. Gin is mixed with bitter lemon to make a golden liquid known as “Pomada”. Mahon cheese is very well known and typical from this island. Lobster stew is probably the best local dish and people from all over Spain travel here just to taste this delicacy.

Menorca has two official languages, Spanish and Catalan. The local dialect of Catalan is Menorquí and most Menorcan people are bilingual in both languages.

While tourism and business tourism are the main sectors of the Menorca’s economy, approximately 50% of its GDP, Menorca is an important producer of cheese, footwear, ceramics and jewelry.

Menorca has a Mediterranean climate with mild winters and hot bright summers. The average temperature is 15ºC during the winter and 27ºC during the summer so Menorca is a great all year round MICE destination.
