Trendy Formentera, with its crystal clear water and white sandy beaches, will transport you back in time. Visit The Balearic’s fourth biggest island, only 19kms long, either for a daytrip from Ibiza or for a few days exploration of the island. Formentera has a total population of 7,500 people and is usually visited on a day trip from Ibiza, however, Event groups can spend two or three days exploring the island.
Formentera’s cultural and architecture reflect a different history to its sister islands as previous occupiers have been the Carthaginians, the Romans, the Visigoths, the Vandals, the Arabs and, finally, the Kingdom of Aragon.
A typical dish from the island is “Guisat de Marisc” which is boiled potatoes with seafood – different seafood to that used in the Menorcan dishes. Local cheese is also of an excellent quality.
Formentera has two official languages, Spanish and Catalan. The locals speak a dialect of Catalan and are bilingual in both languages. Tourism and business tourism are the main sectors of the economy. The island shares its larger sisters’ climate; mild winters and hot bright summers with an average temperature of 15ºC during the winter and 27ºC during the summer, so it offers year round Event possibilities.
