Mallorca is Spain’s largest island and is ideal for Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and other Events including golf, water sports and many other sporting/leisure activities. Mallorca has been occupied by the Romans, the Byzantine Empire, the Moors and finally, by the Kingdom of Aragon, all of which have left a rich cultural heritage and important architectural structures that are still visible to admire today.
Mallorca’s history combines well with idyllic mountain villages and beautiful coastal locations. Palma, the capital, provides excellent hotels and modern conference facilities along with night life and great dinner venues.
The island is renowned for its local cuisine. Olives and almonds are typical of the Mallorcan diet. Sobrasada, a cured sausage made from pork, paprika and spices, is prepared in a laborious but festive rite and it is exported to the rest of Spain. Another typical local dish is “Arroz Brut”, saffron rice cooked with chicken, pork and vegetables and the famous “Ensaimada” is a sweet pastry dish with a great tradition on the island.
Mallorca has two official languages, Spanish and Catalan. The local dialect of Catalan is Mallorquí and most Mallorcan people are bilingual in both languages. English and German are also widely spoken in most areas.
Mallorca’s Mediterranean climate, with mild winters and hot bright summers, make Mallorca a year round MICE destination. The average temperature is 15ºC during the winter and 27ºC during the summer. Rainfall is very light in all seasons.
