Check out Krakow & Warsaw – “Polished” Incentives!

Saturday, June 4th, 2016

Warsaw is the „phoenix” of Europe, a city that has literally risen from ashes, completely destroyed during WWII and later meticulously rebuilt.

Warsaw is now one of the quirkiest capitals you could ever imagine.  This new cosmopolitan heart of Central Europe is a perfect symbol of history – through renaissance architecture, modernism, Soviet-era concrete to modern skyscrapers, the city has seen it all and is now the most architecturally diverse city in Europe.

Whether you’re looking for a party on the beach, great pub crawl, vodka tasting, historical sightseeing or a DJ party on the 40th floor of Marriott Hotel – it is all there for you!

Krakow, one of the top destinations recommended by Lonely Planet and is definitely the most popular tourist destination in Poland.  Its artsy, colourful and vivid Old Town is easy to fall in love with at the first sight.

Krakow was the capital of Poland until the 15th century and the seat of Polish kings – the Wawel castle is a great historical landmark. Kraków has survived both World Wars without any major damage and presents some of the finest examples of Renaissance architecture. It has the biggest Market Square in Europe.

Krakow has an extensive Jewish heritage – make sure to visit the Kazimierz district just a few steps away from the Old Town. Narrow cobbled stone streets, synagogues and cosy cafes will take you back in time to the Bohemian era of Kraków.

Wroclaw’s Wonder Water World

Thursday, January 21st, 2016

“The bronze dwarfs give you the first clue that Wroclaw is no ordinary city. They lurk all over the place, carousing outside pubs, snoring at the doors of hotels, peeking out from behind the bars of the old city jail.” David Hewson

Wroclaw has been washed and rewashed by the warring tides of European history and has belonged to many nations/empires.

Despite that Wroclaw, once described as “the holy blossom of Europe, a beautiful gem among cities”, (source unknown), the city still blossoms. Perhaps the most appropriate blossom would be a lotus flower, beautiful, exotic and water borne. Wroclaw from a boat’s deck appears to be a lotus city, a flower floating on water.

Wroclaw is worth the visit just for its setting and picturesque buildings. However, it is also a party/nightlife city, fuelled by a large student population, a foodies’ city and a place of elegant shops and great entertainment.

Hardly surprising it is European Capital of Culture 2016. It is also a great MICE destination.

And for incentive travel groups that have 4 or more days it pairs well with Prague. Poland Concept DMC can make the road trip to Prague fun – a drive into the mountains, lunch, an activity and on to Prague for a one or two night stay.

And here is a small sample of activities Poland Concept DMC can provide:

Discovering the city of 100 bridges – cruise on Odra river

  • Gondola Lift ride in Wrocław Riese Project
  • Discovering hidden bunkers and Hitler’s HQ around Wroclaw
  • Quads Adventure in the Owl Mountains – visit to the Książ Castle
  • Wineworkshops at Adoria Vineyard
  • Prague on segways – get to know the charm of the Czech capital

Warsaw is WOW

Thursday, January 21st, 2016

Warsaw – A Welcome Wow great for corporate conferences, incentive travel and more.

“So I stopped in my tracks when I turned a corner and saw a range of pastels — cream, peach, blue, light green — on façades that had previously been uniformly grey concrete, crumbling with neglect. It was quite like spring.” (Martin Sandbu author)

Spring has moved into high summer. Warsaw has turned from ashen phoenix to a city of many colours and shade. The “Old City” is a delight with back streets, hidden coffee shops and more.

Warsaw has become a food lovers’ city, a party city, a corporate conference and travel incentive city, a shoppers’ city, a city of jazz and blues, museums and more. Stay in the grand old Bristol or perhaps the new Raffles, due to open soon or check out one of the many boutique hotels.

And while Warsaw can offer more than enough to fill the days of a longer incentive why not take a vintage car rally/day out on the Mazury lakes!!

Mazury lakes are a fresh water lover’s paradise so for sailing, fishing, canoeing and more amidst rolling verdant hills and forests this is an excellent day out from Warsaw.

There are many lakes connected by a network of canals and rivers.

And to give you a taste of combining Warsaw & Mazury, these are just a few of the activities Poland Concept DMC can offer:

  • Communist Warsaw Tour on board local vintage buses

Kicking Back in Krakow

Thursday, January 21st, 2016

“Krakow is one of my favorite places on earth. It is a medieval city full of young people. A wonderful, striking combination.” (Jonathan Carrol: USA Author)

Krakow is possibly the best place in Poland to party!! And for incentive travel groups there are a number of new boutique hotels that are in “historic” converted properties.

Krakow is many things to many people; from international students to millions of tourists to conference delegates, ICE Krakow Congress Centre and incentive travel visitors.

And to provide contrast to your city incentive stay check out Zakopane in the Tatra Mountains.

Poland shares Europe’s second biggest mountain range with other central European countries and Poland’s share has six peaks over 2,000 metres – so a good place for winter sports.

But there is so much more outside of winter – from rafting to hiking, from visiting pretty spa towns and villages to meeting Poland’s mountain people, who have a preserved culture apart from the rest of Poland.

And to give a flavour of what you might do in Kraków & Zakopane: (see more)

  • Horse-drawn carriage ride through the Old Town of Kraków
  • Jewish Trail at Kazimierz District
  • Ship Cruise along Vistula River & discovering the Wawel Castle – the seat of Polish kings
  • Miner’s Tour at Wieliczka Salt Mine – the oldest operating salt mine in Europe – 330m below the ground!
  • Muchelin fine dining without giving your wallet heartburn
  • Rafting on Dunajec River towards Zakopane

Deutschland: Destination Different – Lubeck

Friday, October 16th, 2015

#incentiveslubeck, #hamburg, #incentivesgermany, #teambuildinggermanyLubeck, a lovely river island medieval gem!

The entire Lubeck old city is deservedly a UNESCO Heritage Site.

In under one hour travel time from Hamburg, your delegate group can literally be transported back in time to visit the medieval gem that is Lubeck.

The old city is enclosed by the river Trave and this in turn connects to Ratzeburger Lake via the Wakenitz River. If you are holding a conference or incentive in Hamburg and looking for a team building day or incentive activity day Lubeck has a lot to offer.

A perfect city to explore in one day, from an early morning marzipan coffee to a myriad of hidden courtyards and alleyways (some just big enough to walk down) and 1,000 protected buildings. The city spans the middle-ages with Gothic, Renaissance, Baroque and Classical buildings; old merchant houses, churches, cathedral and more.

Old Lubeck is less than six kilometres square but it packs a historic punch that rivals many bigger cities.

So if you are looking for water based activities, either team building or just fun, what better backdrop could you want!

Perhaps you need a high energy competitive activity – Dragon Boat racing! Or, if more sedate is preferred, sail or canoe on the Ratzeburger Lake or sail down to the Baltic Sea.

Alternatively test your raft building skill on the Trave or your navigational skills in the alleys, courtyards and green spired churches of the old city.

Or be very different and hit the bullseye with night time archery!!

For lunch it would be a shame not to favour fish as the Baltic, lake and rivers offer such fresh fish. If fish is not on your menu why not time travel with a medieval banquet?

Traditional Currywurst Recipe

Tuesday, July 14th, 2015

Did you know that the currywurst was invented in Berlin in 1949?

The currywurst is an icon of German popular culture. Former Chancellor Gerhard Schröder is a noted fan of currywurst. By tradition, every candidate for Bürgermeister (mayor) of Berlin is photographed at a currywurst stand. More than 800 Million are eaten each year in Germany

The invention of currywurst is attributed to Herta Heuwer in Berlin in 1949 after she obtained ketchup (or possibly Worcestershire sauce) and curry powder from British soldiers in Germany. She mixed these ingredients with other spices and poured it over grilled pork sausage. Heuwer started selling at a street stand in Berlin where it became popular with construction workers rebuilding the devastated city. She patented her sauce, called Chillup, in 1951.

Ingredients

For 4 People

4 brewed veal sausages

6 tablespoons olive oil

1 red onion

1 red chilli pepper

20g fresh ginger

2-3 tsp hot curry powder

150 ml Cola

3 doses lumpy tomato (each 400 g )

salt

sugar

Preparation (30 minutes)

1. Cut sausages on both sides several times and fry in 3 tablespoons medium heated olive oil from both sides until golden brown.

2. Meanwhile, finely dice the onion and chilli pepper. Fry in 3 tablespoons olive oil. Peel the ginger, grate it finely and sauté together with the curry powder. Deglaze and boil up with cola. Add tomatoes, heat it all through and season to taste with salt and 1 pinch of sugar.

3. Cut the sausages into slices, serve with the sauce and serve sprinkled with curry powder. Serve with fries.

Bon appetit!

Or maybe you want to enjoy the wide range of the traditional Berlin Currywurst directly in Germany? The event locationDeutsches Currywurst Museum Berlin provides an extraordinary ambiance for different events which can be booked exclusively:
