Join the “2 Mile High Club”

Tuesday, April 21st, 2015

Invite your peak performers to perform at, on, around and between Glacier 3000’s twin peaks.

As an added “world’s first” attraction the twin peaks at Glacier 3,000 are now connected by an amazing 1.8 million Swiss Franc suspension bridge.

So why not join the 2 Mile High club and walk into space while admiring stunning views over some of the Alps highest peaks and the beautiful Engadin valley.

And let Dino and his team at Welcome Swiss DMC design you a menu of exciting and entertaining seasonal activities to suit your winners’ profile.

For those warmer months, while there is still snow and fabulous cross country skiing, choose from a wealth of non-snow activities and for the colder times perhaps a Winter Olympics with options to do all things snow. Check out Dino’s concept proposal Glacier 3000

Add high end, high class service hotels and evenings of fine dining to truly reward your peak performers.

Welcome Swiss as one of Switzerland’s most creative Destination Management Companies are great at providing customised activities for your events be they team building for conferences or fun activities for incentives.

Absolutely Faberge ……………….

Tuesday, January 13th, 2015

…………..Darling

Having seen some of Moscow’s stylish high life and the fab Faberge Ritz Chairs we felt this caption was so appropriate. We could picture Eddie, Patsy and Saffron sitting in these chairs with a glass of Bolly or Stolli.

You can start from the 10th floor for pre-dinner drinks and see the Bolshoi and Red Square from a height then work your way up to the 61st floor and dine in Europe’s highest restaurant. Alternatively, start with drinks on the 34th floor and wonderful panoramic views and drop in on the Russian Academy of Sciences 22nd floor for dinner …. and there are just so many other fab sky high bars and restaurants with wonderful views, so you are spoilt for choice. Just let Russian Fairytale DMC find your dream evening venues.

Rescuing Hedgehogs………………..

Friday, December 12th, 2014

Welcome Stephanie!!

During her formative years Stephanie was a dedicated and diligent junior member of the RSPCA and spent her spare time doing good deeds for animals in need i.e. rescuing hedgehogs, making bird boxes and bug hotels. Even at a young age Stephanie was into hospitality.

As an experienced and effective developer and manager of hospitality business opportunities with more than 15 years of experience, Stephanie has worked with some of the leading names in hospitality, business travel and MICE. It was during these years that she fuelled her passion for delivering top class customer service and developing positive, long-term, relationships.

We are delighted to have Stephanie on board and are certain that GTAssociates, our DMCs and clients will benefit from Stephanie’s experience and enthusiasm.

When she’s not providing sales and administration support to GTAssociates, you’ll find Stephanie exploring the great outdoors with her husband and 2 young daughters – Thea and Taryn: savouring fine wines and enjoying tea, toast and kids TV in bed with all the family on a Saturday morning.

Stephanie believes that Sir Winston Churchill summed up her caring and nurturing nature as well as her approach to business when he said “We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give”

Welcome Stephanie we have enjoyed the last three days!!

May 2014 – Feria de Sevilla

Monday, May 12th, 2014

How many parties cover close to a square mile?

Feria de Sevilla is, probably, Spain’s biggest party and Seville is a city that knows how to party.

Just imagine 1,000 private casetas, warm orange scented air, tapas, music and dancing 24/7 throughout Feria week.

Feria has to be experienced for the sheer volume of happy, friendly, people, its sounds and tastes plus spectacle of horses, horse drawn carriages and colourful “traje de gitano” the flamenco (gypsy) dresses.

For the best experience you need to know one of Sevilla’s most prominent families, such as Horacio of Between Congresos y Eventos, be connected to a business or member of an association, club or political party who together own one of the thousand private casetas. And …. be invited to join their party.

Casetas are canvas tent pavilions where the owners entertain family, friends and important business contacts. Casetas are made for entertaining – fully equipped with a bar, kitchen and sound system or live entertainment playing Sevillanas (local folk music).

Alternatively you can enter one of the seven huge public casetas.

Feria de Sevilla always takes place two weeks after Semana Santa (Easter week).

Each day the party starts around 13:30 with an endless flow of drinks and tapas until the small hours of the next day. And… on the final the Feria closes with a bang – many bangs in a huge firework display.

Quorn Business Travel and GTAssociates to work together

Monday, January 20th, 2014

Quorn Business Travel  (QBT) and GTAssociates join forces to provide overseas Fam Trips.

QBT will arrange the Fam Trip flights while GTAssociates’ DMCs will organise hotels and the ground programme. In addition QBT will share its flight management expertise with GTAssociates’ Fam Trip guests and this will include global flight access profiles for the destinations visited.

In addition, given that many of the enquiries we receive require flight access from multiple departure countries/cities we see the provision of timely in depth flight access information as a valuable added service for many of the agencies we work with.

David Wheeler Head of Group Transportation at QBT says that working with GTA is ideal in that unlike Fam Trips via hotels, airlines, CB’s etc a Representation Company and their DMC’s can provide visits to the widest range of hotels, dinner venues and experiences of great incentive/team building activities. As a consequence of QBT’s working relationships with the widest range of airlines QBT is able to offer more flight alternatives than sponsorship via a single airline could.

We have always recognised that during and post the recession event organisers and their employers have increasing difficulty in managing diary time. Fam Trips, while desirable, take second place to winning and managing events.

To work for the agencies Fam Trips have to add to agencies’ destination knowledge while producing a memorable experience that are of value to the agencies in winning, retaining and operating events. In addition the Fam Trip must provide a showcase for the third party suppliers who provide and deliver content/provide support.

We believe that there is nothing to equal feeling, tasting and seeing a destination, its hotels, venues, food and wine whilst meeting potential partners.  Working with David at QBT means that we can more easily include agencies from across the UK in a single Fam Trip.  We will no longer be reliant on using a single airline and/or all travelling from the same airport.  Working with David means that instead of agencies in the UK regions travelling to London for a flight, we may offer regional flights as well as London flights.

Contact Alan or Gill at GTAssociates (01527 401625) or David at Quorn Business Travel (0844 736 3663) if you wish to be included on our 2014 Fam Trip invitation lists.

Brilliant Barcelona – A Fantastic Time at EIBTM

Monday, October 28th, 2013

EIBTM 2013 was a great experience this year, bigger and better than last year with 15 Hosted Buyers in our group.

Thanks to all of our Hosted Buyers for choosing to join us in Barcelona. We were joined by Penny from Grass Roots, Scott from Toucan, Rebecca – Roselle Events, Sharon and Paul – Insurance Times, Lisa and Sharon – Athena Events, Catherine – Duo Conferences and Events, Chris – Inception Global, Phil – Zibrant, Mark – Penguins, Nikki – MMI and Paul and Ewan – Co-operative Events. You were all such great company.  A special thanks to Reed as without flights from Scotland and Liverpool five of our hosted Buyers would not have travelled to EIBTM.

As ever so many agencies from the Midlands and further north feel sidelined by the lack of effective flight options so EIBTM, while very desirable, does not work for them as they cannot afford 3 days for EIBTM. This year Rebecca flew from Edinburgh via Heathrow on Tuesday and returned via Heathrow Thursday! Sharon, Catherine, Lisa & Scott flew out from Liverpool on Wednesday and returned Friday morning. Thanks guys for joining us.

From the feedback we receive EIBTM would really benefit from “new blood” – the first time Buyers who would find two days out of office manageable.

For those of us experiencing our first stay at the W Hotel we discovered the W beds do provide a brilliant night’s sleep. With an early start as our flight was 07:30, a day walking EIBTM and our hosted “events” from 17:40 through to the next morning (longer for those who chose to go on to Opium/EIBTM party) most of us only had a few hours sleep. So I have to admit the “testing” of sleep quality was not ideal.

Wednesday evening started on the MTA stand with Mark of EC Meetings hosting all of our exhibiting DMCs – Ole, Welcome Italy, Across Morocco, Event Makers Greece, g2o Turkey, Event Makers Cyprus and Welcome Swiss. and our Hosted Buyers.

It is surprising how time flies when you have a drink in one hand and canapes in the other – we had to take a fast exit as our Hummers had been waiting. Fortunately the Cava stayed cold and our hosts Baris and Onur (Sales & Marketing Directors) respectively of Kempinski Ciragen Palace Istanbul and Kempinski Babaros Bay Bodrum were there to pour welcome cold cava as we toured Barcelona.

A check in and freshen up later we headed off to dinner at  La Viblia – so convenient for the W as only a two hundred yard walk round the corner. Thanks Ole – the selection of Tapas just kept coming and the wine pouring. Our private space was perfect – access to the sea view terrace for the smokers.  Big enough for us along with our surprise artist who drew our faces onto t-shirts during the evening.

And our final surprise – personalised desserts  – each DMC brought in a taste of their destination and these went down brilliantly with the
